Thursday Check In

Today I worked out for 2 hours at the gym!!! Here is what I did....

45 minutes Water Aerobics
25 minutes 4 laps (200 Meters)
29 minutes 5 K (Woo Hoo!)

My legs were not sore this morning when I woke up like I thought they would be. My upper body is SOOO SORE today. Yesterday when I worked my upper body I did some bench pressing with just the bar. Well, that used some muscles in some places that are not used to getting a workout. I am going to remember to add that into my weekly workout. It feels good to be a little sore. Now, a lot sore, is very different!!

Tomorrow I am going to hop on the bike again and ride for an hour and do upper body again. Saturday I am going to do a long run. Hopefully it will be 5-6 miles. I will run at a slower pace but hopefully it will build my endurance. I might even hop in the pool again and do some more laps. That was very refreshing!

FOOD & POINTS

I did VERY well with Weight Watchers today. I gave myself 8 points for my workout this morning but only used up about 4 of those. That is fine with me. I was able to have lots of chocolate today while still getting all my vitamins & produce in.

Deep Thoughts and Checking In

Hi everyone!!

Is there anybody out there?? If you are reading this will you leave me a quick comment?? Today in Weight Watchers we talked about losing our motivation. I feel like I'm a bit on the verge of that. Do you know what keeps me going????? YOU!!! I can totally FEEL your love and support for ME and that makes me want to try my hardest!! Thank you for everything!!!

At my WW meeting I had expected to have gained about 1 pound but was so surprised when I lost another .2 pounds. I was so happy that it was negative!!! I do feel, though, that is taking me FOREVER to get into the 120's!!! I have lost a very small amount in the past 2 months!! I am totally going to hang in there. I only have around 10 pounds to go and then my challenge will be maintaining my weight loss.

Here is my deep thoughts for today............... I cannot BELIEVE my transformation. I do not mean that in a boastful way, I just mean that I cannot believe how different I feel in my own skin. I still have quite a bit of chubbiness in my middle area but it is not nearly as HUGE as it was before. I feel so WEIRD!!! I honestly thought that because I have had so many children that I was forever going to have my "baby fat". That is the excuse, I mean name that I called it. It feels so strange to me to be able to wear jeans and not have them so skin tight and just uncomfortable. Today I put on my new pair of "boyfriend" jeans from the Gap and they are SOOOO comfortable!! That is one of the benefits to a healthier lifestyle....... comfortable clothes. Okay, I don't mean my old excuse, I mean sweat pants that I used to say I wore because they were so comfy. I mean clothes that FIT me, are cute, and comfy!!

I am really enjoying my new running phase of my life. I have some pretty big goals for my future and I know I can achieve them with the right training. Here is what I have done this week.......

Monday - I got up at 7 am (it was even a holiday!) and I ran on the main road by my house (very hilly). When I got home I hopped in my car to see how far it was that I just ran and it was 2.6 miles. Pretty good for not timing it and just trying to get a good run in.

Since this was a holiday I did TERRIBLE with my WW points!!! We had a BBQ at our house that was potluck and there was some pretty yummy dishes that I had to try. I ate pretty good when everyone was here but when everyone went home I had a hamburger and I took a bag of Doritos to eat in front of the TV! That was my old habit but I felt justified. It was a holiday, right!!

Tuesday - First thing I did this morning was dump both bags of left over chips down the sink!! I didn't want that temptation anywhere near me!!! I got on the treadmill later in the day and walked/ran for 3.5 miles. My toddler needed me at 45 minutes so I wasn't able to get a full hour in. My tummy hurt anyway (ummmm, can you say FATTY FOOD Monday fighting back!!)

I did really well on my WW points for Monday.

Today I went to the gym and decided to give my shins a break. I did the bike for 1 hour and then worked upper body. I'm SUPER sore today!!!

These are the best socks EVER!!!  Balega brand running socks!!

I love my new Asics Nimbus running shoes, too!!

Checking in!!


Hi everyone!!!

Here is the most current pic of me.  My daughter took it of me today.  How current is that??  

I ran my 2nd 5K yesterday and it was great!  I even placed 3rd in my age group.  What a rush!!  My family and I are going to do a Fun Run in about 2 weeks.  We want to get them introduced to running and kind of get a feel for what we do now.

My Second 5K Race

Can you believe I ran another 5K race???? A friend of mine talked me into signing up for another 5K race that was scheduled for today and I am so glad she did!! Karlee & ,I along with our husbands, all had a blast running today's 5K. Us girls ran it in 30:43, which beat my old time!!! We both also placed 3rd in our age group!!!! I GOT A MEDAL FOR RUNNING!!!!! I feel like a running STAR!!! Of course I know, it's only a 5K, but to me it was SOOOO super BIG!!!

It's so neat that my husband and I now both share a running hobby. We have many goals for the future that we want to accomplish TOGETHER!

Here is me and Karlee after the race. We sent our husbands out to the car to get our cameras so we could capture it all on film. We must be scrapbookers, huh??

Funny story.... Just about 2 k's into the race we noticed that there were some runners now running our direction. We totally thought they were the marathon runners who had started 1 1/2 hours before we did. We were cheering for them, screaming, telling them they are AWESOME!! Then we realize that they are the 5K runners!!! At the halfway point you have to turn around and come back!! We were only a little bit behind the people we were cheering on!!! Honestly, when we thought they were the marathon runners our speed picked up, our energy level got higher, and we just were pumped. After we realized that we were in the same race then it was pretty funny. :)


After we were done running we thought it would be fun to go back out on the course and cheer the marathon runners on. Karlee and I were doing cartwheels, "WHOOOOING", and doing kicks for them! Some of the marathon runners loved it and we felt that it also annoyed some. :) It was soooo super fun, though!! I really want to attend marathons just so I can be a cheerleader for them and keep their spirits up. What an amazing accomplishment for them!! We are setting a goal to run a marathon in October 2010. Just 1 year and 5 months away!!!



Here is a pic of Karlee and me with our 3rd place medals. We both placed 3rd place in our age group. Of course they were 10 years apart!!! What a fun day. I am going to miss Karlee sooooo much when she moves in 2 weeks!!!

Wednesday Update!

Hi Everyone!!

Well, I went into Weight Watchers expecting to have gained .2 pounds (I just haven't been 100% this week with my eating plan), and I was very surprised to find that I lost 1 entire pound!!!  I got a 25 pound award to put on my keychain!!!  If you remember correctly, I had lost 8 pounds on my own and another pound not accounted for with WW.  That makes my total weight loss at 34 pounds!!!!  Can you believe that??????

Thanks for all your support!!  I just have 10.4 pounds to go!!!

You are NEVER going to believe this!!!

I decided to challenge myself today on the treadmill and run as far as I could.  Can you believe I ran a 10K without walking any of it????  I DID IT!!!!!!  It was really HARD but I did it!!!  In high school I could not even run a mile and now I am running 6.2 and I am 36 years old!!  I sure feel young in my mid life!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi everyone!!

I hope you are having a fantastic Mother's Day!  This is the MD dress  picked out for myself from my family.  I feel very comfortable in it.

This weekend when we were at the cabin I did not eat very well at all!!  I tried to watch what I was eating but I know I had many more points than I was allowed.  It is okay to take a couple of days off, I know that, but I am always afraid in the back of my mind that I am going to go back to my old ways.

Yes, it has been one of those days!!  Very busy, crazy, and a lot has not gone right.  Here is what I've eaten so far....

I know I am not supposed to weigh myself at home but I just couldn't resist this morning.  Drum roll please................ I weighed 129.6 at home!!!!  I don't think I've been in the 120's in YEARS.  I'm not too tall and I have a petite build so this is okay for me.  Weight Watchers scale would have said 130.6 since it is 2 pounds heavier.  I just hope I keep staying motivated.  I have had a difficult past 3 weeks.  I just want to be healthy and fit in my clothes without feeling uncomfortable.  :)

How's everybody else doing?  Got any tips you want to share?

I stink!!!

Yes, I stink........ literally and IT FEELS GREAT!!!  I just finished a 10K on my treadmill!!  It took me 82 minutes but I don't care!!!  I ran the first 5K and then I ran/walked the other 5K.  I cannot imagine running a 10K but I think I might set that goal for the Fall.  I'm pretty sure I can do it by then.  

I've decided that I am going to keep my eating log and exercise log here everyday since so many of you have e-mailed me and want to know what I eat throughout the day.  Remember that I am on the Weight Watchers plan.  Their meetings are also very helpful to me.

Oh ya, I finally have lost some weight again!!  I had gained .8 pounds 2 weeks ago and lost .4 of it last week.  This week I lost 1.4 so I am officially down 1 pound!!!  I worked very hard for that 1 pound!!!

It's a new day!!

I have a new attitude this morning. Today is a new day and I am going to try to be my best. I'm not going to worry about everything I did wrong last week I am just going to start again.

Today I got up at 5:30 am and decided to go to the gym instead of working out at home. I got on the treadmill and ran a 5K!!! I beat my time of 30:58 by 8 seconds!! I had to run at a really fast pace of 7.0, 6.5, and 6.0. That was kind of tough but not as hard as it would have been a month ago. I'm slowly building up my endurance and it is the neatest thing!!

Here is a pic I took about 2 weeks ago. I need to remember to take more pics so I can chart my progress. Maybe the scale doesn't always show it but I can feel it in my clothes for sure. This shirt is size small. I have always been rather large on top (forgive me for my frankness) but since I've been working out I don't have that problem anymore. :) I didn't think I would ever be able to wear a small. It felt great!!

Update!

Hi Everyone!!

It's been awhile since I updated.  I'm still drudging along slowly.  I have some ups and some downs.  This week I wanted to try to run a 5K on Wednesday.  I got on the treadmill and ran until I reached 3.1 miles and then I just kept going!!  I ran 5 miles straight!!!!  Then I continued to walk until I was at 6.25 miles!  That is an amazing accomplishment for me.  I actually ran 5 miles!!!!!

You all remember that last week at WW I had gained .8 pounds.  Well, this week I lost .4 pounds so I am still in the plus.  I have rededicated myself to do better.  Wish me luck!
