20 Miles!!!!

So my DH and I had a goal of 20 miles this past Saturday AND WE DID IT!!! The last mile was the hardest. My legs almost wouldn't move themselves and my toes were killing me. I found that I had more endurance than I had 2 weeks ago when we ran 18 miles. I honestly cannot believe that I ran 20 miles in 3 hours 24 minutes!! That is like a total miracle!! If someone would have told me 7 months ago that I would be running a marathon in 8 months I would have told them that they were crazy..... BUT we are doing it and we are right on track!!!!

Here is a pic of me from 2 Sundays ago.

Another Week!

Hey everyone!!

This week I have really stuck with the WW point system. It really worked as I lost 3 pounds and am almost back to where I was 3 weeks ago!! You go up and down a lot during maintenance.

Hope you all are having a great week!!

Great Marathon Message

Checking in!!

Hi Everyone!!

Yesterday the goal for my long run was 14 miles.  I did it!!  My toes felt A LOT better in my new shoes but were still a little sore.  Next week is our last SUPER long run of 18-20 miles and then we go to 12 miles and then 8 miles the Saturday before the marathon.  It is coming up quickly and, honestly, I can't wait for it to be over.  I am excited to achieve such a goal but I am ready to go back to regular working out.  These long runs on Saturdays are a big commitment and we also have to pay a babysitter for the 3 or 4 hours that we are gone, too.

Okay, I need to leave a great tip that I have learned the hard way.  DO NOT EAT HALF A WATERMELON the night before a long run!!!  My stomach was very upset the last half of my run and ALL day yesterday.  Wow!  I didn't realize that would do that but it did.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

So much better today!!

This morning I woke up and took some Motrin before heading off to the gym after the kids were off to school.  My toes were still killing me but I was determined to run a few miles.  I just can't lose this momentum in my training or I will not make it in the marathon.  I got on the treadmill, set the speed to 6 and ran.  My toes really killed for the first 2 miles but then suddenly the pain stopped.  I was able to run 6 miles at speeds of 6.0-7.0!!!  It is now 9pm and my toes still do not hurt yet!!  I'm sure they will be a little sore in the morning but I am going to let them rest tomorrow so I can run my long run of 14 miles on Saturday.  Next Saturday is my last super long run before the marathon and then I will be able to slow it down until the big day.

I also rededicated myself to the WW plan yesterday.  There is no reason that I have gained back 3 pounds of my big 4.2 loss.  I have just been lazy.  I am trying to drink lots more water and have healthier snacks and a lot of popcorn!!!

Hope you all are having a great week!!

UUUUUGGGGGHHHH!!

I am totally not having a good week so far with my training or weight loss!!!  My toes are KILLING me and they have some sort of fungus/infection that resulted from my MAJOR blisters on Saturday.  I had a great run on Saturday but my toes paid the price!!  I have not been able to run all week and it is already Wednesday.  This morning I got up and went to the gym to do my 9 miles for my training and was not able to endure 1 minute on the treadmill because one of my toes was hurting so bad.  I think I might go to the doctor.  I might have to have one of my toenails removed.  Yep, it hurts that bad!!!  I ended up doing the bike for 40 minutes but it was not the same.  I miss running!!  I don't like feeling injured.

Yesterday I got new shoes hoping that they would help with my toes.  Well, it looks like the person that fitted me 3 months ago accidently put me in a size that was 1/2 a size too small!!  I should have been in 8's these past 300 miles and I was in 7 1/2's!!!  The girl told me that this is probably what started my toe problem.  I am hoping that these new shoes will work wonders.  They aren't as cute as my pink running shoes but they will do the trick.

Today I am going to go and get weighed in at Weight Watchers and I am fully expecting to have gained at least 2 pounds this past week.  For starters, I ate 2 HUGE pieces of lasagna last night before I went to bed.  What was I thinking?????  I just had a really emotional day yesterday with it being the first day of school that I couldn't help it.  I am going to start new today and try to have a GREAT week!!

Sorry for such a negative post but I wanted to share my ups AND downs on my journey.  Please keep my toes in your thoughts.  I really want to be able to run the marathon in 4 1/2 weeks.  :)

Marathon & Other Stuff

Okay, so you all know that I had a horrible week with training last week, right?  Last Saturday I just wasn't feeling the long run and the rest of my training was also a big flop.  I was starting to doubt my ability to even accomplish such a HUGE goal.  Well, this week, so far, is going sooo much better!!!

I gained 1.2 pounds this week but I wasn't that disappointed as I had such a big loss last week.  This is to be expected.  I did change my goal weight, though, down to 125.  I am 5 feet 4 inches for those wondering.

This morning was a perfect day for a long run.  The weather was overcast and slightly cool.  The wind sucked, though!!!  I didn't have any problems for the first 13 miles but then started to majorly doubt myself at that point.  I even started to cry and told my DH that I couldn't do this anymore.  That I was not cut out for the Marathon.  I was not a runner and was just kidding myself.  At that point my little toe on one foot started cramping.  I just stopped running and sat down in the grass.  I was at a VERY low place of my run.  I took off my shoe & sock and massaged my foot.  That seemed to help because I was able to get up and start running again.  I just endured.  Most of it was not fun at all but from mile 17 to mile 18 I listened to my favorite running song, by Miley Cyrus called The Climb, over and over again!  I was able to get a huge second wind and pick up my pace majorly!  I finished the 18 miles (which was my goal for today) in 3 hours and 10 minutes.  That is really not a bad time at all for my first go at it!!!  I am actually starting to think that I can do my marathon!!!  It is on September 19th, so I only have 4 more Saturdays to do long runs.

I just wanted to check in with everyone!!  Can you believe I ran 18 miles today???  I can't either!!  Honestly, I think that at mile 18 I could have run for another mile or two.  I just didn't want to push it today.

Weight Watchers Meeting

Okay, so I had felt like I might have lost .4 today and hit my goal weight but I had not idea what I lost.  When I stood on the scale at my WW meeting my leader told me quietly 4.2.  I said I gained??  She said... "No, you lost 4.2 pounds!"  I then repeated her and said "Are you sure??"  I had to keep checking then I SCREAMED for everyone to hear!  WOW!!  If you check my progress on the right side you will see that I have never lost more than 3.4 in one week and that was in the first week of my journey.  To say I am excited is a complete understatement!!  I hit my goal weight of 127 today but I think I am going to lower it to 125 pounds.  My leader told me I could let her know next week.  I just feel that I have a little bit more to lose in my belly.  I'm a little nervous, though, because she told me she wanted me to increase my points by 4 every day!!  I told her that I am a little nervous because I am afraid that I am going to gain my weight back.  Even though I am at the end of my journey I feel that it is really just the beginning.  I am feeling that the maintaining part might be the HARDEST part of the entire journey!!!!

14 Miles, Baby!!!

I cannot even believe that I am writing this.  It feels like a dream.  Today I ran 14 miles around Lake Hefner non-stop (except for that 1 quick porta potty break).  It was exhausting, hard, and I wanted to completely give up at mile 8.  I turned to my DH and said "I've got to stop!" He simply said "NO!"  Okay, usually he is like, "Okay, honey, if you need to stop then do it".  But today he just knew that I had it in me and I needed to endure and keep running.  Well, that is exactly what I did.  I just kept RUNNING!!!   and RUNNING!!!  and then some more RUNNING!!!  Believe me when I say that the last mile is the HARDEST of any run!!  Sooooo super long and it lasts FOREVER!!!

Anyway.  I now have officially run more than a half a marathon!!!!  Only about 6 more long runs to go!  Next week my goal on Saturday is 16 miles.  YIKES!!!!  Is that even possible???  We will soon find out!!!

I wanted to share my running stats for the week.....

Monday - Ran 6 miles

Wednesday - Ran 9 miles!!!

Saturday - Ran 14 miles!!!!

Total miles ran for this week = 29 miles!!!!!  Double YIKES!!
