I DID IT!!!!

I cannot even believe I did a 5K run yesterday and I ran the entire race!!! I was not even one of the last like I thought I would be. My time was 30:58. It was very hard and at times I didn't think I could continue running but I did. There were a lot of hills which made it really tough but I just endured. The last K was very hard and I had to keep playing Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" over and over. It really isn't about where I started or when I finished it is about my journey. We learn so much as we push ourselves and try to achieve goals that we never thought were possible. Those of you who know me personally know that I am NOT a runner, or better yet, I WAS not a runner. I am now. I truly enjoy it. I cannot wait to run my next race. Just hearing the sound of feet hitting the pavement, silence, and then the songs on my Ipod. It was surreal and I cannot even explain how it felt. I encourage all of you to make a goal to accomplish something you have always wanted to do but never thought possible. I bet you will be surprised at how far you get if not all the way. :)

  1. Congratulations on your accomplishment! I've been following your blog and you are such an inspiration to me. I aspire to be a runner and will again try to start a healthier lifestyle RIGHT NOW!!
Would you mind posting what songs you listen to on your iPod? I downloaded The Climb for my daughters but will be adding it to my mix as well!

    Thank you!

  2. Robin, Congratulations on your accomplishment!! I just read all of your posts and am inspired by what you have done. Over the past few years I've let the pounds creep up on me. I'm at 162 now and am 5'5. I've got to get moving!! I'm going to try and remind myself what you have done and dig in my heels and get going again! I've never been a runner, but would really like to accomplish a 5k one day. I'm so glad for you!! Yay!! Now...to get myself going!

  9. You have no idea how much finding this has encouraged me. I've been trying to loose too. Also getting ready for my first 5K at the end of June. Seeing your progress here and reading about your running experience...well, it brings me just the kind of encouragement I needed.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Smiles!
