Friday Check in

Hi everyone!!

Today I got up at 5:45am after sleeping in for 2 days! That was kind of tough. I wanted to get back to my morning schedule on the treadmill instead of doing it in the afternoon. Here was my workout this morning.....

*Treadmill for 2.5 miles (350 calories burned)

*Gym - Upper body workout

My legs were really killing me by the time I was off the treadmill and at the gym but they are feeling much better now. I guess I just needed to work through my pain.

I don't feel like I have lost a lot of weight but people are noticing a change in me and that is exciting. I did look at some pics that were taken a few months ago and I cannot believe the difference, just in my face!!

Thursday Check In

I slept this morning instead of getting up at 5:30 am to exercise. Today is the last day I am not going to workout on the treadmill. My legs were getting really bad and even this morning they ached a little. I think they will be ready by tomorrow but I am not going to do 4.1 miles again. Probably just around 2.25 or a little more.

Not much else going on around here. Just feeling "blah", hope it passes soon!!

I overdid it!!

I was so excited yesterday morning when I did 4.1 miles on the treadmill!!!  I didn't realize that it was going to kill my legs later that night.  I am still in a lot of pain, I didn't even work out this morning!!!!  I guess it's good to take a break from running anyway, even if it is just for 1 day.  I was doing so well!!

Monday morning check in!

HI everyone!!! I am feeling very good this morning! I got up at 5:30 and then went to the gym first to do upper body and abs (because my DH needed to go to work early). Then I came home and did an aerobic interval on my treadmill for 45 minutes. I was on there for 3 miles and 400 calories!!!! That is the most I have ever done in the morning, though, I did do this same interval on Saturday afternoon. It was invigorating!!!! I love it!!

Last night we had some friends over after church for dinner and I went ahead and ate everything I made along with them. I didn't even count any points or calories. Of course, it was just spaghetti, broccoli, & healthy chocolate muffins. If I did count it it would have probably been around 12 points total and that is what I had left for the day. I did have a 1 point tapioca a couple of hours later but that is just fine. I did not feel too full but felt very satisfied. This is what I need to be learning. I want to get back into normal society with a new mindset. It has been around 7-8 weeks since I started and I feel that I have come a long way!!!

I hope you are all having a fabulous day!!

It's a Callous!!!!!

Finally, all my hard work at the gym is paying off!! Today I noticed a callous on my hand!! This is definitely from working with weights for 7 weeks straight!!! What an accomplishment. Is it weird that I find this exhilarating ??

Valentine's Day

I decided that since last night was a special occasion that I was going to take it off.  My DH & I went out to eat at Mimi's Cafe and it was wonderful!  We got an appetizer tray & actually split a main coarse in half.  I don't think I've ever done that before.  We had planned on getting dessert, too, but we were just too stuffed.

I think that I am going to take one night off every 3 weeks.  That seems like it will be something fun to look forward to and something that I will have earned.

Speaking of earning....  I rewarded myself with 2 Cricut cartridges for losing 12 pounds since January 5th.  I am going to do something for every 5 pounds I lose.  It is a way to keep me motivated.

On another note.... I am still really sick!!!  I didn't work out as hard as I wanted to everyday because of this silly cough but I still did work out everyday.  If it doesn't go away by Tuesday I am going to go to the doc and get a chest xray.  I hope it's not walking pneumonia.  It sure feels like it, though.

Friday Check in

Well, today has been the first day that I have not worked out in almost 6 weeks!!! I WILL eventually get on the treadmill this morning but I didn't sleep very well. I still have a cough and my arms are killing me. Yesterday afternoon I thought it would be a good idea if I drained the pool cover (since it has rained a bunch in the past 2 months), and scoop all the leaves out of there. It didn't really hurt at the time but when I went to bed my forearms were really hurting. I woke up a few times in pain. This morning they are better but I just knew that I wouldn't be able to lift weights this morning. Plus, my 4 year old DS is still very sick. He just needs his mommy today. I'm not very motivated and feel very BLAH!

Feeling Better

I still have a yucky cough but I was able to get to the gym today after I ran on the treadmill. It felt good. I'm sure that working out and eating healthy has helped me fight this virus. Normally I would have been in my bed for at least a couple of days. I did take a 2 hour nap yesterday but I really needed it.

Today I only had 25 minutes to workout on the treadmill since I got up late so I just ran at a faster pace and longer. I still did 2 miles (YAAAAAAAA) but I did it a lot faster. It felt really good. My lungs didn't kill me as bad.

Yesterday I started Weight Watchers again. I am still doing Jenny Craig, too. Weird, huh?? I like the way JC is set up with their daily meal planning but I like the flexibility of counting my own points and eating with my family. :)

Monday's Update

This morning I woke up with a cough and was totally congested. My alarm went off at 5:30 and I had a decision to make. Was I going to sleep for another hour and a half and hopefully feel better or was I going to just get up and workout anyway. I chose to just get up and work out. Even though I was hacking a little on the treadmill, it felt really good to work out my body after taking a Sabbath break yesterday. Here is what I have done today.....

*I actually ran/walked for 2 miles today!!!! That is my goal for this week and I am excited that I did it on the first day. I have decided that I am not going to run for big stretches anymore. My right shin is really acting up and I don't want it to get any worse. I am walking for 2 minutes and then running for 2 minutes at 6.0. Towards the end I just walked at an incline. I was sweating up a storm and burned 250 calories during the 27 minutes I was on there.

*At the gym today I worked my upper body. I am getting a little bit stronger and able to use heavier weights now. I really am feeling the difference.

Saturday when I was at the gym running on their treadmill my size large workout pants started falling off. Hmmmm, I guess that is a good sign, huh?? Yesterday I was able to zip up one of my church dresses without sucking in or without the help of my husband. That is a big accomplishment, too!!!

I'm happy to lose my weight slow and steady as long as it continues to come off. :)

On Wednesday I was sick for a bit in the mid morning- afternoon. It kind of just snuck up on me. Even though some of my food was coming up I still tried to get down 1200 calories. I totally felt better by the next morning. I was still a little queasy yesterday and a little bit today but I'm pretty much back to normal.

This morning I went to the gym for an hour and did my treadmill there and upper body. I ran/walked for 1.75 miles and burned 200 calories doing that. My shin splints are starting to hurt on my right leg so I am trying to take it easy and not do inclines or run too much for a bit. I don't want to have aching legs anymore.

The diet part is going great! I've actually started doing Weight Watchers along with Jenny Craig. I just make sure that I don't exceed 1200 calories or 22-24 points. I am able to have more of a variety in my menu. I have been making muffins & cookies for my kids everyday that are healthy and have been eating them along with them.

Life is good and I am feeling really healthy. I have been weighing myself at home and I know that I shouldn't be. I was actually down to 143.6 for a day but am now sticking with 144.0 which I am very happy about. Of course, the JC scale is about 2.5 pounds heavier.

The Journey

Hi everyone!

I haven't updated in about a week or so because simply, I was just not in the mood. Life seems to have been busy and the kids also had 3 days off last week due to an ice storm. That kind of slowed things down a bit.

I just wanted to take a minute to blog about my journey. I know that this all started because a friend and I wanted to do a Biggest Loser challenge but it has turned into so much more than that to me. Honestly, I didn't even want to start it in the beginning. I just didn't feel like exercising! Now that I have been doing it for an entire month today, I look forward to exercising every morning. I haven't skipped one day yet! I am going in to get weighed and measured in about an hour so we will see how that goes. I can tell that I am starting to change and others around me can see it, too. That is the most important thing. Pounds don't really matter. Plus, I am lifting weights 6 days a week, too, and really toning my body. I am soooo glad that I started this journey. I have an entire different outlook on my life and my children's lives. Things have really changed around here. For example, I am making them healthy snacks when they arrive home from school, and I am making a conscious effort to cook them healthy food for lunches and dinners.

This week I am doing 1.75 miles on the treadmill. Yesterday I ran for 16 minutes in a row of that. Today, I kind of sprinted for 1 minute increments. I felt like I got an equal workout for both.

We have on our calendar the 5K we are running. It is ............................ April 4th!! Wish me luck!!!!
